From the earliest cave paintings at Lascaux, horses have been a central figure in artist’s depictions for centuries. Artcurrent is pleased to present ‘Equus’ featuring Philadelphia photographer Harris Sklar and NYC/Berlin/Provincetown painter Dorothy Palanza (courtesy of Schoolhouse Gallery Provincetown, MA and Williams-McCall Gallery, Miami, FL). Sklar’s work, based on his book ‘A Backstretch Journey’, provides a glimpse into the human-equine connections of the horse racing world. Palanza’s paintings recollect her experiences in the presence of horses in their environments – from the polo ponies of Brandenburg, Germany, to the wild horses of Cumberland Island, GA, and to Provincetown’s small horse stable.
